Ashuwillticook River Trail - Running 17.5 miles from Pittsfield to North Adams along Rt. 8 and the Hoosic river, this path can be the anchor for a north-south route from Vermont to Connecticut. Construction of the first 6 miles north of Pittsfield has been completed. Final preparations to the next 5.5 miles through Adams will be completed in 2003.
Currently you can access the bike path at the Berkshire Mall, Lanesboro and at Farnums Road off of Route 8 in Cheshire. Parking and restrooms are located at these sites. You can also hop on at the Route 8 rest area on Hoosac Lake, right across from the Lakeside Restaurant in Cheshire.
In Adams you can park at the Public Lot on Depot Street to access the trail. You may also get on the trail at the crossing adjacent to Russell Park, which is on American Legion Drive.
